A week from today, will be 3 entire years since Sloan left his earthly body.
When he died, the subject of child loss and bereavement was still very little discussed. Watching grief and the experiences of bereaved parents begin to take up a more visible space in society has been such a bittersweet gift. Thank you for loving him, for honoring my grieving process, for choosing to read the tough stuff and continuing to expand your compassion and support for others in the loss community.
If you would like to participate in our annual memorial from afar, there are a few things you can do:
-Light a tethered lantern, sparkler, or candle in his honor on July 3rd
-Help raise awareness about SIDS and safe sleep.
-Make a donation in his name to @firstcandle
-Share his story. Giving people a tangible experience to read helps them relate and better understand grief and loss. There are many different writings of mine you can choose from on my blog.
